Circular RNA as a novel molecular biomarker for radon-induced lung cancer

Circular (circ) RNAs are non-coding closed RNA molecules. Studies of human tumors, including lung cancer, have shown a change in the expression profile of circrna. CircRNA can indirectly regulate gene expression by binding and inhibiting microRNA functions. Thanks to this mechanism, circRNAs can regulate proliferation, apoptosis, invasion, and metastasis. In this review, we showed a brief description of the expression and function of circRNAs, as well as their roles in the development of lung cancer. We presented evidence that these molecules should be studied as useful biomarkers for radon-induced lung cancer.
